The Surrogacy Process
Upon inquiry one of International Surrogacy Partners' staff members will review our program thoroughly with you. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about international surrogacy in Ukraine.
Once your application has been submitted, each applicant will be scheduled for a free in-office (or by phone, if distance precludes a face to face meeting) consultation with the Executive Director of International Surrogacy Partners in order to provide a personalized evaluation of your needs and inform you of the options that are available and appropriate for you.
Upon signing a retainer agreement each client will be required to complete several documents, including copies of medical reports from your doctor, designed to help us better understand your personal history and surrogacy needs. Once the documents have been completed, they will be sent to our partners in Ukraine. After receiving this information, the surrogate center will select egg donors and surrogate mothers in accordance to your specific requests and needs. The women will be selected based on their medical history, psychological evaluation, child(ren) they already have and family history. ISP will then liaise with the Ukrainian medical clinic in order to schedule the requisite appointments to begin your surrogacy process. It is our job to assist you with all stages of the preparation required prior to your first trip to Ukraine in order to ensure a smooth and successful process.
The length of the first trip is approximately 4 days. During the first trip the intended parents interview potential surrogate mothers who they have selected and choose the mother with whom they wish to work. At this point, families will confirm their selection of the egg donor, visit the medical clinics, and sign all contracts.
The intended parents then return to the U.S. and the process of preparing the surrogate mother and egg donors for implantation starts immediately. Throughout the process and pregnancy the intended parents will be provided with regular progress updates. Our staff members work closely with our medical clinics to ensure timely receipt of updates on the condition of the surrogate mother by the intended parents.
When the child is born the intended parents travel to Ukraine. The length of the second trip is approximately two to three weeks. One of the parents must remain in Ukraine for the duration of the trip, the spouse can return to the United States one week after the birth of the child.
International Surrogacy Partners ensures that all of the appropriate legal proceedings take place to confirm that the birth certificate and other documents name the American parents as the biological parents of the child. We also will work together with the family to go through the process of obtaining a passport for their child from the American Embassy. This entire process, from the finalization of the birth certificate to the obtaining of the passport will be completed by our coordinators and translators in conjunction with our legal team.
